Ingredients
Scale
- 2 large apples (Granny Smith or Fuji), peeled and diced
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 cup milk (or plant-based alternative)
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- Optional: a handful of chopped nuts or raisins
- Cooking spray or a light brush of oil
Instructions
- Peeled, core, and dice the apples into small, even pieces. Toss with cinnamon, nutmeg, and 1 tablespoon of brown sugar in a large bowl.
- Whisk together the egg, vanilla, milk, and remaining brown sugar in a separate bowl. Sift the flour with baking powder in another bowl.
- Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet mixture and stir until just combined. Gently fold in the apple mixture and optional nuts or raisins.
- Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C). Spray the basket with cooking spray or lightly oil.
- Drop spoonfuls of batter into the basket, shaping into patties if desired, leaving space for air circulation.
- Air fry for 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and crispy. Cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- Use firm apples like Granny Smith or Fuji for the best texture and flavor.
- For a sweeter variation, add a drizzle of honey or maple syrup after cooking.
- Ensure enough space between fritters to allow proper air circulation in the air fryer.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days.
- Reheat in the air fryer for a few minutes for crispy results.
