  • 1 lb (450g) beef sirloin or flank steak, sliced thinly
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce (optional)
  • 1 tsp black pepper, freshly ground
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp cornstarch mixed with 2 tbsp water (for thickening)

Instructions

  1. Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Add sliced beef and cook until browned, about 3-4 minutes. Remove and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add remaining oil, sliced onions, and peppers. Cook until vegetables are tender-crisp, about 4-5 minutes.
  4. Add minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  5. Return beef to the skillet, add soy sauce, oyster sauce if using, and black pepper. Mix well.
  6. Stir in the cornstarch slurry to thicken the sauce. Cook for another 1-2 minutes until glossy and heated through.
  7. Serve hot over steamed rice or noodles.
