Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
- In a separate large bowl, beat softened butter and powdered sugar until creamy. Add vanilla extract and mix well.
- Gradually add dry ingredients to wet mixture and combine to form dough. Divide dough in half and tint one half with food coloring.
- Roll out dough to about 1/4 inch thickness. Cut into heart shapes with cookie cutters.
- Place cookies on prepared baking sheets and bake for 10-12 minutes or until edges are lightly golden.
- Allow cookies to cool completely.
- Spread frosting on the flat side of one cookie, top with another cookie to form a sandwich. Decorate with sprinkles.
