  • 1 large head of green cabbage
  • 1 lb ground beef or turkey
  • 1 cup cooked rice
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Core the cabbage and blanch the leaves in boiling water for 2-3 minutes until pliable. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a skillet, heat olive oil and sauté diced onion and garlic until translucent.
  4. In a bowl, combine ground meat, cooked rice, sautéed onions, garlic, salt, and pepper.
  5. Place a scoop of filling onto each cabbage leaf and roll tightly, tucking in the sides.
  6. Arrange rolls seam-side down in a baking dish. Pour tomato sauce over the top.
  7. Bake uncovered for 40-45 minutes until meat is cooked through and cabbage is tender.
