- 1 large head of green cabbage
- 1 lb ground beef or turkey
- 1 cup cooked rice
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup tomato sauce
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh parsley, chopped for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Core the cabbage and blanch the leaves in boiling water for 2-3 minutes until pliable. Drain and set aside.
- In a skillet, heat olive oil and sauté diced onion and garlic until translucent.
- In a bowl, combine ground meat, cooked rice, sautéed onions, garlic, salt, and pepper.
- Place a scoop of filling onto each cabbage leaf and roll tightly, tucking in the sides.
- Arrange rolls seam-side down in a baking dish. Pour tomato sauce over the top.
- Bake uncovered for 40-45 minutes until meat is cooked through and cabbage is tender.
Notes
- You can substitute ground beef with turkey or plant-based alternatives.
- For extra flavor, add a teaspoon of smoked paprika or Italian herbs to the filling.
