- 1 medium head of cabbage
- 1 pound ground beef or turkey
- 1 cup cooked rice
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- Fresh parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Core the cabbage and carefully peel off large leaves, blanch in boiling water until flexible, then drain.
- In a skillet, heat olive oil and sauté onion and garlic until translucent.
- Mix cooked rice, ground meat, sautéed onion and garlic, salt, pepper, and paprika in a bowl.
- Place a spoonful of filling onto each cabbage leaf and roll tightly, tucking in sides.
- Arrange rolls in a baking dish, pour tomato sauce over the top.
- Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes, until cooked through.
- Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
Notes
- Blanching the cabbage leaves makes them easier to roll.
- Feel free to add some shredded cheese on top before baking for extra flavor.
- This dish can be prepared ahead and refrigerated before baking.
