A savory pizza inspired by classic French onion soup, topped with caramelized onions, Gruyere cheese, and a flaky crust.

  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pre-made pizza crust
  • 2 large onions, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 cup shredded Gruyere cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon thyme leaves
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 450°F (230°C).
  2. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add onions, salt, and pepper. Cook slowly, stirring frequently until golden brown and caramelized, about 30 minutes.
  3. Spread caramelized onions evenly over the pizza crust.
  4. Sprinkle shredded Gruyere and Parmesan cheeses on top.
  5. Garnish with thyme leaves.
  6. Bake in the oven for 12-15 minutes until cheese is bubbly and crust is golden.
  7. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve hot.

Notes

  • You can add a splash of balsamic vinegar during caramelization for extra flavor.
  • For a crispier crust, pre-bake the crust for 5 minutes before adding toppings.
