Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground beef
- 4 large potatoes, peeled and sliced
- 1 onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or your favorite)
- 1/2 cup milk or cream
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Peel and slice the potatoes, dice the onion, and mince the garlic.
- In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add diced onion and minced garlic, cooking until translucent.
- Add ground beef, season with salt, pepper, and paprika, cook until browned. Remove from heat and set aside.
- Layer half of the sliced potatoes in a baking dish. Spread half of the cooked beef mixture over the potatoes.
- Repeat with remaining potatoes and beef, creating layers.
- Pour milk or cream evenly over the layered ingredients. Sprinkle shredded cheese on top.
- Cover with foil and bake for 40 minutes. Remove foil and bake an additional 10 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
Notes
- Using russet potatoes yields a fluffier texture, but Yukon Gold potatoes add a buttery flavor.
- For a spicy kick, add a pinch of red pepper flakes.
- You can substitute different cheeses like Monterey Jack or mozzarella.
