Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup almond flour
- 2 tablespoons coconut sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 egg or flaxseed egg (for vegan option)
- Cooking spray or coconut oil for spraying
- Optional: additional cinnamon and coconut sugar for coating
Instructions
- Combine almond flour, coconut sugar, cinnamon, and salt in a bowl.
- Add applesauce, vanilla, and egg (or flaxseed egg), then mix until a scoopable dough forms.
- Form small bite-sized pieces from the dough using a spoon, piping bag, or rolling into logs and cutting into rounds.
- Preheat the air fryer to 350°F (175°C).
- Lightly spray churro bites with coconut oil or cooking spray. For extra sweetness, roll in cinnamon-sugar mixture.
- Place in the air fryer basket in a single layer, cook for 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway, until golden and crispy.
Notes
- If the dough is too sticky, add more almond flour; if too dry, add a splash of water or milk alternative.
- Reheat leftovers in the air fryer at 350°F for 2-3 minutes to restore crispiness.
- Optional coating with cinnamon sugar adds extra flavor and crunch.
