Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pre-made pizza crust
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 3 large onions, thinly sliced
- 2 teaspoons sugar
- 1 cup shredded Gruyere cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Fresh thyme leaves
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add sliced onions, sugar, salt, and pepper. Cook slowly, stirring occasionally, until onions are deeply caramelized, about 30 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Spread caramelized onions evenly over the pizza crust.
- Sprinkle shredded Gruyere and grated Parmesan cheese over the onions. Garnish with fresh thyme leaves.
- Bake in the oven for 12-15 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
- Remove from oven and let cool slightly before slicing. Serve warm garnished with extra thyme if desired.
Notes
- For extra flavor, add a splash of balsamic vinegar during caramelization.
- You can substitute Gruyere with Swiss or mozzarella cheese.
- This pizza pairs well with a simple side salad.
