A simple and nutritious cabbage wrap filled with seasoned ground meat and rice, wrapped in tender cabbage leaves, ideal for a quick dinner.

Ingredients

  • 1 large head of green cabbage
  • 1 pound ground beef or chicken
  • 1 cup cooked rice
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can diced tomatoes (14 oz)
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce or Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Olive oil for cooking

Instructions

  1. Bring a large pot of water to a boil and carefully peel whole cabbage leaves. Blanch leaves for 2-3 minutes until flexible, then drain and set aside.
  2. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion and minced garlic, sauté until translucent.
  3. Add ground beef or chicken, cook until browned. Stir in cooked rice, diced tomatoes, soy sauce, salt, and pepper. Cook for 5 minutes until well combined.
  4. Lay each cabbage leaf flat and spoon filling onto the center. Fold in sides and roll up tightly.
  5. Place rolls seam-side down in a baking dish. Cover with foil and bake at 375°F (190°C) for 20-25 minutes.
  6. Serve hot with a drizzle of sauce or fresh herbs.
