- 1 large head of green cabbage
- 1 pound ground beef or chicken
- 1 cup cooked rice
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can diced tomatoes (14 oz)
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce or Worcestershire sauce
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Olive oil for cooking
Instructions
- Bring a large pot of water to a boil and carefully peel whole cabbage leaves. Blanch leaves for 2-3 minutes until flexible, then drain and set aside.
- In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion and minced garlic, sauté until translucent.
- Add ground beef or chicken, cook until browned. Stir in cooked rice, diced tomatoes, soy sauce, salt, and pepper. Cook for 5 minutes until well combined.
- Lay each cabbage leaf flat and spoon filling onto the center. Fold in sides and roll up tightly.
- Place rolls seam-side down in a baking dish. Cover with foil and bake at 375°F (190°C) for 20-25 minutes.
- Serve hot with a drizzle of sauce or fresh herbs.
Notes
- Adjust seasoning to your taste, add herbs like dill or parsley for extra flavor.
- Can be made ahead and reheated.
