- 1 pound ground beef or Italian sausage
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 4 cups beef or chicken broth
- 1 can (14.5 oz) crushed tomatoes
- 1 cup ricotta cheese
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 8 oz cooked pasta (penne or rigatoni)
- Fresh basil for garnish
Instructions
- In a skillet, cook ground beef or sausage until browned. Add chopped onion and garlic, cook until translucent.
- Transfer to the crockpot. Add broth, crushed tomatoes, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
- Cook on low for 6-8 hours or high for 3-4 hours.
- About 15 minutes before serving, stir in cooked pasta and dollops of ricotta cheese.
- Sprinkle with shredded mozzarella and Parmesan cheese. Cover and cook until cheese melts.
- Garnish with fresh basil and serve hot.
Notes
- Use your favorite pasta shape for best results.
- For extra flavor, add crushed red pepper flakes or fresh herbs.
