Ingredients
Scale
- 4 ripe bananas, mashed
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Optional: 1/2 cup chopped nuts or chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a loaf pan.
- In a large bowl, mash the ripe bananas until smooth. Add the softened butter, sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract. Whisk until creamy and well combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually fold the dry mixture into the wet ingredients until just combined. Fold in nuts or chocolate chips if desired.
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
- Bake for 60-70 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.
Notes
- Use very ripe bananas for the best sweetness and moisture.
- Do not overmix the batter to keep the bread tender.
- Storing in an airtight container at room temperature keeps it fresh for 2 days.
- Freeze slices wrapped tightly for up to 3 months to extend shelf life.
- Reheat slices in the oven or microwave for a fresh bakery-style experience.
