Tender shredded beef cooked in flavorful au jus, served on crusty bread with melted cheese for a classic French dip sandwich.

Ingredients

  • 3 lbs beef chuck roast
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 4 hoagie buns or baguette rolls
  • 8 slices provolone cheese
  • Optional: fresh herbs for garnish

Instructions

  1. Season beef with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Place in slow cooker.
  2. Add sliced onions and beef broth around the beef.
  3. Cook on low for 8 hours until beef is tender and easily shredded.
  4. Remove beef and shred with two forks. Return to crockpot to soak up juices.
  5. Preheat oven to 375F. Slice buns and place on baking sheet.
  6. Layer shredded beef and cheese on buns. Bake for 10 minutes until cheese melts.
  7. Serve sandwiches hot with a bowl of au jus for dipping.
