Ingredients

- 3 lbs beef chuck roast
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 large onion, sliced
- 4 hoagie buns or baguette rolls
- 8 slices provolone cheese
- Optional: fresh herbs for garnish
Instructions
- Season beef with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Place in slow cooker.
- Add sliced onions and beef broth around the beef.
- Cook on low for 8 hours until beef is tender and easily shredded.
- Remove beef and shred with two forks. Return to crockpot to soak up juices.
- Preheat oven to 375F. Slice buns and place on baking sheet.
- Layer shredded beef and cheese on buns. Bake for 10 minutes until cheese melts.
- Serve sandwiches hot with a bowl of au jus for dipping.
Notes
- For extra flavor, add sliced mushrooms or a splash of Worcestershire sauce during cooking.
- Use crusty French baguette for authentic texture.
