- 1 large head of cabbage
- 1 lb ground beef or turkey
- 1 cup cooked rice
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup tomato sauce
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- Fresh parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Boil water in a large pot and blanch the cabbage leaves for 2-3 minutes until flexible. Drain and set aside.
- In a bowl, combine ground meat, cooked rice, chopped onion, minced garlic, salt, and pepper.
- Place a spoonful of meat mixture into each cabbage leaf and roll up, tucking in the sides.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat and lightly brown the cabbage rolls on all sides.
- Transfer the rolls to a baking dish, pour tomato sauce over them, and bake at 375°F (190°C) for 20 minutes.
- Garnish with fresh parsley and serve hot.
Notes
- You can substitute ground turkey or chicken for beef for a leaner option.
- For added flavor, mix in chopped herbs or spices into the meat filling.
- Serve with extra tomato sauce or a side salad for a complete meal.
