- 1 large head of green cabbage
- 1 pound ground beef or turkey
- 1 cup cooked rice
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Carefully separate cabbage leaves, blanch in boiling water for 2 minutes, then drain and set aside.
- In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat; sauté onions and garlic until translucent.
- In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef, cooked rice, sautéed onions, salt, and pepper.
- Place a scoop of the meat mixture onto each cabbage leaf, roll up, and tuck in ends.
- Arrange stuffed cabbage rolls in a baking dish, pour tomato sauce over the top.
- Cover with foil and bake for 35-40 minutes until cooked through.
Notes
- You can substitute ground beef with ground turkey or chicken for a leaner option.
- Serve the cabbage rolls with additional tomato sauce or a dollop of sour cream.
