Ingredients
Scale
- 3 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 packet active dry yeast (2 ¼ teaspoons)
- ½ cup warm milk
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 large eggs
- 8 slices bacon
- ½ cup brown sugar
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- ½ cup pure maple syrup
- ½ cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
- ¼ teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Cook the bacon until crispy by frying or baking, then chop into small pieces.
- Activate yeast by combining warm milk, a teaspoon of sugar, and yeast; let sit until foamy.
- Mix flour, remaining sugar, and salt; add softened butter, eggs, and activated yeast. Knead until smooth and elastic.
- Let the dough rise in a greased bowl, covered, until doubled in size (1 to 1.5 hours).
- Roll out the dough into a 16×12 inch rectangle.
- Spread softened butter over the dough, sprinkle with cinnamon-sugar mixture, and evenly distribute chopped bacon.
- Roll up tightly starting from the long edge, then cut into 12 slices.
- Arrange slices in a greased baking dish, cover, and let rise for 30-45 minutes.
- Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
- Mix maple syrup, powdered sugar, and vanilla for the glaze. Drizzle over warm rolls and serve.
Notes
- For extra flavor, sprinkle with crushed nuts or drizzle additional maple syrup.
- Ensure bacon is fully cooled before chopping to prevent melting into the dough.
- Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for up to 24 hours at room temperature or refrigerated for up to 3 days.
