  • Total Time: 1 hour
  • Yield: 8 servings

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef or turkey
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup frozen mixed vegetables (carrots, peas, corn)
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 bag (32 oz) frozen tater tots
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: chopped green onions or parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add ground beef or turkey, chopped onion, and garlic. Cook until browned and onions are translucent. Season with salt and pepper. Drain excess fat if needed.
  2. Stir in the cream of mushroom soup, sour cream, frozen vegetables, and half of the cheese. Cook for 2-3 minutes until heated through.
  3. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Spread the meat mixture evenly in a greased 9×13 inch baking dish.
  4. Arrange frozen tater tots in a single layer on top of the meat mixture. Sprinkle remaining cheese over the tater tots.
  5. Bake uncovered for 40-45 minutes until golden brown and crispy. Optional: broil for an additional 2-3 minutes for extra crispiness. Let rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Use vegetarian substitute like sautéed mushrooms or plant-based ground meat for a vegetarian version.
  • Make it gluten-free by choosing gluten-free soup and tater tots.
  • Always preheat the oven for even cooking.
  • For extra flavor, top with chopped green onions or parsley before serving.
