Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, cubed
- 3/4 cup buttermilk
- 1/4 cup melted butter (for the “swim”)
- Optional: honey or jam for serving
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). In a large bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt. Add cold butter and mix until coarse crumbs form.
- Pour in buttermilk and stir gently until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Turn dough onto a floured surface, fold a few times, then pat into a 1-inch thick rectangle. Cut into round biscuits with a cutter or glass.
- Place biscuits on a parchment-lined baking sheet, evenly spaced.
- Melt 1/4 cup of butter and pour over the biscuits, creating the signature “swim” effect.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown on top. Optionally, brush with additional melted butter before serving.
Notes
- Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days.
- Refrigerate for up to a week to keep fresh.
- Reheat in oven or microwave for a quick warm-up; for crispiness, reheat in an air fryer at 350°F for 3-4 minutes.
