Ingredients
Scale
- 2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 packet (2 ¼ teaspoons) active dry yeast
- 1 cup warm milk
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 large egg
Instructions
- In a small bowl, dissolve yeast in warm milk and let sit until frothy, about 5 minutes.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, and salt.
- Add the yeast mixture, melted butter, and egg to the dry ingredients, stirring until a soft dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let rise in a warm area for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Punch down the dough and divide into 12 equal pieces.
- Shape each piece into a ball and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Allow the rolls to rise for 20 minutes, then bake for 15-18 minutes until golden brown.
- Cool slightly before serving with butter or your favorite toppings.
Notes
- For softer rolls, add a tablespoon of milk to the dough if it feels dry.
- You can prepare the dough a day ahead and refrigerate overnight for quick morning baking.
